RTA may delay Salik launchDubai's RTA Chiefs May Delay July 1 Salik Road Toll Launch DUBAI - Dubai's Road & Traffic Authority said Sunday it may delay a controversial new road toll that's expected to generate 600 million U.A.E. dirhams in revenue ($163.4 million) a year, an official said. "The RTA is meeting to confirm July 1 as the start date or to chose another date when it will start," an RTA spokesperson told Zawya Dow Jones Sunday. "The authority has received many points of view and suggestions about the new toll so it is taking these into consideration," she added. The toll, known as Salik, is intended to help control the flow of traffic along Dubai's main Sheik Zayed highway that links the city's business districts. |
