Top RAK official obtains first e-gate card

Ras Al Khaimah: The Ras Al Khaimah Airport issued its first e-card on Thursday making it easier for passengers who now do not have to stand at the immigration counters.

The e-gate cardholder now need only swipe the card without having to present the passport at immigration, officials said.

The e-gate facility has been operating at Dubai and Abu Dhabi international airports for some time and will be introduced to the other airports nationwide in the coming few days, a senior police officer said.

Abu Dhabi: Holders of identity cards issued by Emirates Identity Authority will get a New Year gift of two electronic services, E-Dirham and E-gate facilities are to be integrated onto the cards, a senior official told Gulf News.

"Technical work has been completed and the E-Dirham will be activated this week and the E-gate in the first quarter of this year," said Thamer Al Kassemi, Planning Division Manager at Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA).
